NSE started its operations in 1994, and the World Federation of Exchanges has since recognized it as the largest market in yearly equity trading turnover. NSE provides a fully computerized trading system consisting of technology-oriented services, online trading services, among other crucial market services.
Trading usually takes place on all weekdays but remains closed on the weekends. On all the five working days, the market opens at 9.15 am and closes at 3.30 pm. The NSE further remains shut on national holidays and specific regional public holidays.
Depending on circumstances, and when the market dims fit, the trading hours can be extended, advanced, or even reduced at different times of the year.
